The service

Desktop Pet is a Windows desktop app — a small animated companion that lives on your taskbar — plus this website and an optional account service that lets your pet follow you between computers. The app works fully offline with no account.

Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for whatever happens under your account. Give us a real email address — it's the only way we can get a password-reset link to you. You can delete your account at any time from the account page; that action is immediate and permanent.

Everything here is free

The app, the website, and the account service cost nothing to use, and nothing is currently sold. If that changes, this section — and a proper refund policy — will change with it before anything is charged.

Character likenesses

Some of the optional character skins are fan art resembling characters from existing games and franchises. They're unofficial, non-commercial, made by a fan, and not sponsored, endorsed, or affiliated with the original rights holders in any way. All related trademarks and copyrights belong to their respective owners. If you're a rights holder with a concern about a specific character, email support@desktop-pet.online and it will be addressed.

Acceptable use

Use the service the way it's meant to be used. Specifically, don't:

• Try to break into an account that isn't yours, or bypass sign-in/rate limits.
• Send more requests to the API than a normal user of the app would.
• Use the service to harass, harm, or collect data on anyone else.
• Reverse-engineer the service to extract other people's account data.

Suspension and termination

An account that violates the section above may be disabled or deleted. You'll always be able to delete your own account yourself, for any reason, at any time — no explanation needed.

No warranty

Desktop Pet is provided "as is," with no guarantee it will be available, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. It's a hobby project maintained by one person in their spare time, not a company with an uptime commitment.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows it, the operator of Desktop Pet isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, the website, or the account service.

Age requirement

You need to be old enough, under the law where you live, to agree to terms like these on your own — or have a parent or guardian's permission. Desktop Pet isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the project changes. The "Last updated" date above will move when they do.
